Privacy Policy

Viridian helps individuals and small businesses view and organize their own financial accounts. We take privacy seriously.
Information we collect
We collect account information you provide, such as your name and email address, and the personal or business profile information you enter. With your explicit consent, Stripe Financial Connections provides read-only account details, balances, and transactions from institutions you choose to connect. Viridian never receives or stores your online banking credentials.
If you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive a unique account identifier and, the first time, the name and email address you allow that provider to share (with Apple this can be a private relay address). We use them only to sign you in and never receive your Apple or Google password. Viridian keeps no ongoing access to your Google account. You can stop Viridian's access at any time in your Apple ID or Google account settings, and deleting your Viridian account also revokes Viridian's access with Apple.
How we use information
We use your information to authenticate your account, display balances, organize and categorize transactions, calculate cash-flow insights, generate budgets and reports, provide support, secure the service, and process subscriptions. We never sell your data, and we never share your financial data (balances, transactions, accounts) with anyone for advertising.
Cookies
Viridian's website uses a necessary cookie to keep you signed in, and Stripe sets necessary cookies to prevent fraud while you connect a bank. These are always on because the service cannot work without them. The iOS app uses no cookies for advertising.
Advertising measurement
Only if you choose "Accept" in our cookie banner, our public pages (the home page and sign-in page) load Meta and TikTok advertising pixels so we can tell whether our ads bring people to Viridian. They receive your device and browser details, the pages you view there, and whether you create an account. They never run inside your account and never receive your name, email address, or any financial data. Under some U.S. state laws this counts as "sharing" personal information for advertising.
You can change your choice at any time: . We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a choice to opt out, and we never load these pixels when it is present.
Service providers
We share information only with providers that operate Viridian for us, and only what each needs:
- Stripe connects the financial accounts you choose (Financial Connections) and processes web subscription payments.
- Apple and RevenueCat process App Store subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your Viridian account ID and purchase status, not your financial data.
- Anthropic provides the AI features described below.
- Render, Neon, Netlify and Cloudflare host the app, store its database and deliver the website.
These providers are required to protect the information they process and may use it only to provide their services to us.
AI features
Viridian uses AI (Anthropic's Claude models) to categorize transactions and to write summaries and answers about your finances. When these features are available:
- To categorize transactions, we send their descriptions, merchant names, amounts and direction (money in or out). This can run automatically after your accounts sync.
- For summaries and questions, we send totals derived from your data — such as net worth, spending and income by profile and category, recurring bills and budgets — together with the questions you type.
- We never send your banking credentials, passwords or full account numbers.
AI-generated categories and summaries can be wrong. They are organizational aids, not financial, tax, legal or investment advice.
Retention and security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards and retain account information while your account is active. We delete associated data when you delete your account, except for limited records that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, tax, dispute, or other legal obligations. Deleted data can remain in encrypted database backups until those backups expire, and our hosting providers keep limited technical logs (such as IP address and device type) for a short period.
Your choices
You can disconnect a financial account to stop future data access. You can permanently delete your Viridian account and associated data from Settings in the iOS or web app. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us.
Children
Viridian is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Viridian changes. We will post the updated policy here with a revised effective date.
